Soda Firing Add-On, 26SuT10

Join teaching artist Chris Singewald in the studio and dive deeper into the techniques and materials involved in soda firing. Students will load ONE kiln together, and critically review the results of the firing. This new firing add-on is designed to provide an experiential learning opportunity for students while enrolled in another current full- or half-term class. Primarily intended for those with prior experience in soda firing - throwers and handbuilders welcome.

Please note: this soda firing add-on is only available to students registered for a summer 2026 full or half-term class. Maximum of 1/2 cubic foot per person in the soda kiln; allotted space may increase depending on class size. Cost of clay is not included in the class fee. Students may purchase b-clay at NCC with proof of purchase of this firing add-on.

Students should have taken a soda class at NCC, either Introduction to Soda Firing or an Advanced Soda Firing class. Students must participate in all class sessions: wadding and glazing instruction, loading, and clean-up of the kiln and finished work on the dates listed below.

Unloading kiln and cleanup: Monday, July 27, 5 - 8 pm
Fee: $100 (not eligible for member discount)
