Collection: Jerilyn Virden

Greensboro, VT

Jerilyn Virden is a studio artist and along with her husband, glass artist Devin Burgess, they co-own Borealis Studios, comprising Virden’s pottery studio and her husband’s glass studio. She was an artist-in-residence at Penland School of Crafts (Bakersville, NC) from 2001 - 2004 and remained in that community for ten years until moving to Vermont in 2011. She earned her BFA from West Virginia University (Morgantown) in 1997 where she studied abroad at the Jingdezhen Ceramic Art Institute (China). In 2001 she earned her MFA from Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX). Before attending graduate school, she completed a two-year assistantship with ceramic artist Silvie Granatelli, in Floyd, VA. In 2006 she received a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship Grant and in 2014, received the Society of Arts and Crafts Artist Award. Her work has been exhibited at the Mint Museum (Charlotte, NC), Currier Museum of Art (Manchester, NH), and she has work in multiple permanent collections including the Asheville Art Museum and the National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts.
