Discover the art of nerikomi, a Japanese ceramic technique that uses layered and patterned colored clays to create intricate, marbled designs. In this workshop, students will learn how to blend and stack colored porcelain to build striking patterns—from simple stripes to detailed mosaics—then slice and shape these designs into wearable jewelry pieces like pendants, earrings, and beads. Emphasis will be placed on color theory, pattern planning, and precision cutting to reveal clean cross-sections. No prior ceramics experience is required. By the end of class, students will leave with a set of finished, one-of-a-kind nerikomi jewelry pieces reflecting their own design choices.
X9: Saturday, November 7, 2 - 5 pm
