Collection: Noelle Hoover

Indianapolis, IN

Noelle Hoover is a ceramic artist who works and lives in Indianapolis (IN). The challenges of mold-making and the dynamic interaction of ceramic materials fuel a deep curiosity and dedication to the creative process for Hoover. She draws inspiration from the organic shapes and rhythms of nature—such as the swell and movement of cumulus clouds—to create functional designs that reflect a sense of natural flow. Her work begins by carving plaster models and augmenting found objects to create positive forms. Hypodermic needles are used to apply underglaze drawings which she then leaves unglazed to provide a tactile experience when held. Simplistic forms take center stage, with an emphasis on repetitive mark-making as a means of centering her focus and concentration. Hoover’s works are intended to be used and designed to inspire moments of beauty and intention in daily life.
